You can be a pedestrian or drive an automobile, when it is beneficial to you, thanks to the transformation of the eGo. Such transformation philosophy was not proposed by any other vehicle previously. This is really a new degree of freedom in your city.

How does the electric car transformation mechanism work?

You are driving on the road with the speed up to 90 km / h, but if met jamming or you need to park in a tight spot, you can push a button and in several seconds the automobile takes 1.5 times less space, so you can park easily even if you have little space for parking, you can overcome even 20-cm curbs easily, as well as use the surrounding territories to bypass obstacles, of course giving way to pedestrians.
Electric eGo has two states: folded and unfolded. It is able to move with high speed, it is resistant and has a low center of gravity in the folded state. When you press the button, electro-hydraulic system tilts the electric vehicle body around the front axle forward up to 30 degrees, and the rear wheel on a collapsing lever drives under the bottom of the vehicle. The seat also changes its inclination angle to ensure a comfortable seat of a driver in the "walking" mode. Being folded, the electric car can overcome high hurdles. The speed limit is 10 km/h in the folded state and the system of collision avoidance with obstacles is active in order to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians in this transporting mode.

How reliable is the system of transformation on bad roads?

All static and dynamic loads of the transformation system are transmitted directly to the hydraulic damping element. Electric actuators do not have a rigid mechanical tie with the suspension, so their damage as a result of, for example, deep hole or long drive on a very bumpy road, is completely eliminated.
eGo design gives maximum comfort driving on good roads, but it is fully prepared to poor and very poor roads, which you can find in an urban setting.

Is it true that I can use my tablet as eGo dashboard?

That's right! Your tablet should be on Android operating system, it should be equipped with at least a 7-inch screen, 3G, accelerometer and GPS. Under these conditions, you need to download the special program from Google Play, install it on your tablet, and fixate the tablet inside the eGo. Your tablet will contact the on-board computer and will become your new dashboard. If desired, tablet or other mobile device can also be a key to the electric vehicle.

How does “Road acquaintance” feature works?

When other eGo is in close proximity to you, then you screen displays the name of the owner, photo and other information about him that he decided to share. At this moment, it is sufficient to a special button on the joystick, and the electric car with its owner will be added to your contacts on the social network eGo. You can then edit or expand the type of established connection. Of course, there are different privacy settings for this function that will help to choose the most comfortable way for you to use it, or stop using it at all.

How does eGo solve the problem of traffic jams?

Can I use an electric car in mud, snow, and drive through the puddles?

Yes, you can. eGo easily transfers standard urban snow, mud and rain. But we should not forget that the eGo is still not off-road vehicle, and the motor-wheels, which are used, are sensitive to strong blows, and can be damaged by ingestion of dust and water into the magnetic gap between the rotor and the stator. Under normal operating conditions, it is not possible, but can occur in aggressive use, or if the motor-wheel will stay in water too much time.

Can I use eGo in winter?

Yes, you can. All components of the electric vehicle designed to operate to -30° C. Electric vehicle is equipped with climate control, including a self-contained electric heater. The only thing that the eGo owner must remember is that negative temperatures and use of the heater can reduce the actual mileage on a single charge.

Is there a heating in eGo? And air conditioning?

eGo is equipped with climate control that includes a heater, and air conditioning.

How much does the use of heating in winter reduce the mileage?

It depends on the intensity of heating, but up to 30% on the average.

Why eGo is controlled with a joystick? Is it comfortable and safe?

According to independent researches, as well as a number of some commercial researches, such as the research of Toyota concern, joystick is the most easily perceived and convenient method to control the vehicle, especially for people who have not had much experience of driving of conventional cars.
Our experiments have shown that even people that drove the car with a steering wheel for a long time get used to the joystick in a very short period of time, joystick becomes an extension of their hands. Nevertheless, all military and a large number of passenger aircraft is operated with a joystick, more and more civil aircraft manufacturers disclaim the traditional wheel as a means of control. There is no mechanical connection between the joystick and the empennage elements in most aircrafts. Instead, all the movable elements are driven by actuators, and the control signals flows through the wires. However, the number of crashes that have occurred because of steering system failure in the air is close to zero in the history of the use of joysticks.
Speaking about the auto industry, we should mention that the accelerator pedal just has no mechanical connection to the choker in many modern cars, the information about the degree of pedal is read by sensors and transmitted to the on-board computer on the wire. A dual steering system is used in eGo, it reserves all critical and control components, including even power supply. Steering will continue to operate even when the main battery is completely discharged. Every time you turn on eGo, its on-board self-diagnostic system checks the control elements, and will notify you in time if the system will have excessive backlashes, or other signs of a possible failure. If the signs of failure will appear during the drive, eGo will switch the joystick signals to the reserve steering system, which will provide the controllability of the vehicle till a complete stop.

Is it true that eGo accelerate faster than many cars?

That's right! The dispersal dynamics of eGo from a traffic light is comparable to the dispersal dynamics of cars with more than 150 hp engine power. All this is possible due to the high-torque motor-wheels that use rare-earth NdFeB magnets.

How quickly can eGo gain speed of 60 km / h? 90 km / h?

eGo accelerates to 60 km / h in 5 seconds and up to 90 km / h (top speed) – in about 12 seconds.

What speed limit is in the "pedestrian" mode, when moving in surrounding areas?

The maximum speed of eGo in the "pedestrian" mode (in the folded state, when the driving in the surrounding areas is not prohibited) is artificially limited to 10 km / h for the safety of the driver, passengers, pedestrians and other traffic participants. Also if the electronic collision avoidance system determines that the density of dynamic obstacles is too high (for example, busy pedestrian traffic), it can limit the speed of the electric vehicle additionally. The restriction will be automatically removed when the density of obstacles will decrease.

What vehicle tax does the eGo owner pay?

In Moscow, the transport tax for eGo is zero. In other regions of Russia vehicle tax will be about 82 rubles per year.

How much does MTPL insurance for the owner eGo cost?

Why is eGo not only 30 times more economical than a conventional car, but also 3 times more economical than an electromobile?

Any properly designed electromobile is more economical than a conventional car with an internal combustion engine, but eTrike is also more economical than a conventional electric car.
Conventional electric vehicles are generally economical than cars with an internal combustion engine, firstly, because the energy installation efficiency of them is more than 90%, whereas the energy installation efficiency of a conventional car is usually not higher than 30%. Secondly, the developers of cars have to use high-power motors, which are less efficient at low speeds, because the peak of their power is in the middle speed. At the same time, to accelerate the car to a top speed, the internal combustion engine has to be in the zone of low efficiency. If you will draw a performance-speed curve, it will resemble an inverted parabola with a peak that falls roughly in the middle of speed. The further is the speed from the ideal point - the lower effectiveness and more fuel consumption.
eGo is also more efficiently than a conventional electric car, because the ratio of the average payload and the gross vehicle weight is 3 times better, and secondly, because the eGo has no reduction gears and transmission components.

How can I get electricity for 100,000 kilometers for free?

Why having the engine power of 6 kW, does eGo gain such high speed and accelerate so quickly?

Firstly, the coefficient of efficiency of the eGo power system is close to 95%, while the performance of a conventional car with an internal-combustion engine does not exceed 25%. Secondly, vehicles with an internal combustion engine require having an engine with large margin of power, in such a way it has the highest efficiency at middle speed. EGo electromobile motors are deprived of such shortcomings, its torsion torque - engine rotation speed curve is close to linear.
Furthermore, extra-high-power rare-earth magnets are used in our gearless motor-wheels, they are at a large distance from the axis of wheel rotation, thus they form a large lever. That's why motor-wheel can produce such a high result, even from zero engine rotation speed.

What is the lifetime of eGo batteries?

What type of batteries is used in eGo?

We use LiFePo4 in eGo. They are lithium-iron-phosphate batteries - the most advanced varieties of lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles to date. Lithium-ion cells are arranged in groups and their charge and working conditions are controlled with the BMS individual systems (Battery Management System). It is a system of continuous monitoring, diagnostics and battery charge balancing in charging and during use.

What type of electromotors used in eGo?

Two three-phase synchronous direct-current motors with extra-high-power rare-earth magnets, NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron) are integrated into the front motor-wheels. Two-channel microprocessor controller uses the vector control to supply sinusoidal phase-shifted signals to each of the motor windings, focusing on EMF of the windings and signals from the Hall sensors installed inside the motor-wheels.


How stable is eGo on the turns?

eGo almost cannot turn over even at a sharp turn due to a very low center of gravity. Battery, the main mass of the frame and the entire propulsion system are located below the driver's legs. The mechanism of this transformation makes possible to improve the stability when traveling on smooth roads, reducing the clearance to a minimum.
eGo also shows good stability driving on rough roads. It is sufficient to say, the eGo prototype is regularly and successfully tested at a speed of 60 km / h on a dirt road with large elevation changes.

How safe is eGo in frontal collisions with conventional cars?

eGo is no less safe in head-on collisions than a conventional car. It is planned to pass Euro NCAP tests to confirm its safety.
In contrast to conventional cars that use partially inelastic collision model, eGo uses an elastic collision model. eGo is not significantly deformed at impact, but it can bounce from the obstacles because of the relatively small mass (compared to the majority of potential obstacles), as well as enhanced security framework, in which the driver and the passenger are enclosed circle-wise.
As we know, for non-traumatic stop at 60 km / h the human body is required to pass at least 70 inches from the moment of impact to a complete stop. In eGo the task of smooth deceleration of the human body at impact is solved in three ways. Firstly, the safe move of "cocoon" deformation brakes body for 20 centimeters. Secondly, a specially designed chair mount absorbs another 20 centimeters of the way. And finally, the active collision avoidance system based on constantly working ultrasonic sensors of approach to the obstacle activates the emergency brake before the contact with the very obstacle and wins another half meter braking distance.
In addition, in frontal collisions with overlapping the frame design of eGo makes its body to "escape" from the main direction of attack and transfer frontal attacks into glancing blow, which gives some additional precious tens centimeters of braking distance.

How safe is eGo in side collisions?

From the point of view of a side impact eGo design practically does not differ from the design of a conventional car. A safety arch in the door is at the level of the most likely blow rest against the main frame structure when the door is closed - a "cocoon" of the vehicle. eGo is not less safe in side collisions than a conventional car.

How safe and comfortable is the top speed of 90 km / h?

This speed is available only in the fully unfolded eGo position. The maximum wheelbase in length and ultra-low center of gravity provide eGo with excellent stability.
Joystick also adapts to the speed and will protect the driver against errors. One and the same joystick deflection at high and low speed will react different steering response, thus making the control as safe as possible.

Have eGo crash tests?

According to the legislation on wheeled vehicles certification eGo should not pass crash tests. However, we have conducted its own crash tests, including simulation according to the rules of Euro NCAP.

Team, history of the project, development and investment

Who is funding the project?

For nearly two years, the project was funded entirely by the own resources of the founder - Konstantin Artemiev. During that time, more than a dozen of electric vehicles, as well as two eGo prototypes were created. First external money that got the project was a subsidy of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Astrakhan region (2.6 million rubles) and the first prize of the Skolkovo Fund in Skolkovo Startup Village. Up to this moment the founder has invested about 6 million of his own money in the project. At the moment we are in active negotiations with investors to continue the project in the industrial stage.

Is project team concerned with one of the existing car manufacturers?

No, the project team has no relation to any of the existant car manufacturers. Bravo Motors Company worked at (and goes on to work at) eTrike and development and production of utilitarian electric vehicles.

Legal issues

Do I need to register the eGo as a vehicle?

If you want to use eGo at full speed up to 90 km / h, the registration is required. eGo will have a vehicle registration document and the registration does not differ from the registration of motorcycles or cars.
However, if you want to apply the artificial speed limit to 40 km / h, and the artificial restriction of the power to 4 kW, the registration is not required.

Do I need to have driving licence in order to use eGo? For what category?

You should have driving licence for M or B1 categories. If you have a license for B category, then it automatically includes B1category, and you will be able to use eGo.

Do eGo number plates?

Yes, eGo has just one rare number plate. You can see it only in unfolded state. If eGo is folded, the number plate is structurally closed.

How is eGo classified according to the procedure for obtaining Vehicle Type Approval?

According to Vehicle Type Approval procedure, eGo is classified only in the unfolded state by L7category - other light two-, three- and four-wheeled vehicles that are not light vehicles.
